To start your career as a real estate agent in California, you must obtain a Real Estate Salesperson License. The education and testing requirements are easy:
Step 1: Education
A candidate must successfully complete the following college level 45-hour courses.
1. Real Estate Principles
2. Real Estate Practice
3. One course from a list of 12 courses that includes Real Estate Finance
Step 2: Testing
A cadidaate must qualify for and pass a written examination administered by the California Department of Real Estate. Beginning in October 2007, all three 45-hour courses must be completed prior to applying for the examination.
