In order to register, the student will select a registration location. The location will generally be in a brokerage office that has entered into an agreement with ReNewal Education Corporation to refer students for on-line registration. Alternatively, the student may register on-line directly with ReNewal Education. A list of the brokerage offices and their locations is provided on our web site, www.renewaleducation.com

Course Content/Time Limits
These courses are a visual and audio based lecture discussing the principles of real estate, real estate practice and real estate finance pertinent to the United States of America and the state of California. The cost of the courses includes the textbook, plus the online access and materials. These are Internet courses that require the use of the textbook. These courses are segmented into 15 three-hour sessions for a total of 45 hours of instruction and work at home with the textbook. Generally, the sessions in the courses correspond to the chapters in the textbooks. Each session is to be completed in sequence, as students are not allowed to move on to a subsequent session until the current session is completed. Student progress is monitored by ReNewal Education. Any questions or comments may be directed to ReNewal at caladmin@renewaleducation.com or the student may wish to contact the broker’s office. In order to successfully complete a session, the post-test for that session must be taken on the computer with at least 75% of the questions answered correctly. The session tests are comprised of 20 to 30 multiple-choice questions; the student is encouraged to refer to the textbook and class notes when taking the test. The student can review their test results online immediately after completion of the session test along with explanations to support the correct answer for each question. The session post-test may be retaken as often as necessary. Completion of these courses requires a minimum of 18 days. Access to the final examination is not available until the 19th day after enrollment and receipt of the textbook. Once enrolled, a student will have one year to complete the course.

Refund Policy
All requests for refunds must be made within 30 days of enrollment. The Registration Fee is valid for subsequent enrollments for 18 months from the first enrollment and is not refundable. Tuition is refundable based on the number of sessions logged into or completed.

Progress Assessments
The student will take a progress examination two times during each course. The first exam will be taken after satisfactory completion of Sessions One through Five; the second exam will be taken after completion of Sessions Six through Ten. These progress assessments are open book tests delivered on the Internet. However, they are only made available to the student after he or she has completed the appropriate sessions that precede the assessment. The student will have only one hour and fifteen minutes to answer the 40 multiple-choice questions. There is no minimum score requirement. The progress assessment is a way for the student to determine his or her areas of strength and weakness in planning a program of study for their final examination.

Final Examination
The final examination is administered in the same manner as the progress assessments. The final exam is an Internet delivered test given only when the student has finished all fifteen sessions of a course. Successful completion of a course requires a passing grade of 70% on the final examination. The 150 final exam multiple-choice questions cannot be printed, copied or downloaded from the system. Even though this is an open book test, students will only have 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete the final exam. Once started, the final will “time-out” when time has expired. Final exams may be retaken once, no sooner than 18 days from the first attempt. If a student fails to pass the final on the second attempt, he or she must wait one week before registering to retake the course. Also, the student retaking the course will not be allowed to take the final examination until 18 days have elapsed from the most recent attempt. When registering to retake a course, credit may be received for the registration fee paid from the previous registration.

Completion Certificates
Completion certificates for a course will be mailed through the U.S. Postal Service within 5 business days after course completion.

Private Postsecondary Disclosure
Private providers of pre-license statutory real estate courses must obtain approval from the Department of Real Estate (DRE). As part of the approval process, the DRE reviews the course materials only. The DRE does not qualify the school or course provider. In addition, there is no regulatory oversight of private pre-license course providers who offer courses or programs costing $500 or less. For courses or programs costing over $500, qualification by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education is required, in addition to DRE course approval. As a result, if a course provider offering a course costing $500 or less fails to deliver the educational course/program as represented, a student’s monetary remedy is to seek redress in Small Claims Court. Students are cautioned to fully understand the course/program offered by the course provider before enrolling or registering. A list of pre-license statutory courses approved by the DRE can be found on the DRE web site at www.dre.ca.gov under DRE Records.

Evaluation
The Department of Real Estate has a course and instructor evaluation available on their web site www.dre.ca.gov.
